Photo requirements

To be approved, submitted photos must meet all of these listed requirements:

The background and your body

  1. Stand in front of a light-colored, plain, and smooth background.
  2. Make sure there aren't other objects or persons in the photo.
  3. Capture only from the top of your hair to your collarbone.
  4. Position yourself in the center of the photo frame.

Your face

  1. Face the camera straight-on.
  2. Keep your eyes open and fully visible, and make sure your face is in focus.
  3. Avoid unnatural lighting, glare, and shadows across your face.
  4. Don't wear sunglasses, head coverings, earbuds, or hats.
  5. Avoid silly poses, facial expressions, and filters.
  6. Your photo must reflect your current appearance, taken within the last six months.

The photo file

  1. Cannot be larger than 500KB.
  2. Cannot exceed 1000 pixels in each dimension.
  3. Must be in full color in JPEG (.jpg) file format.
  4. Cannot be a photo of a photo.

SubmitMyPhoto is provided by i‐card Programs. We may update these terms without notice, and any changes are effective immediately.

By submitting a photo image through the SubmitMyPhoto website, you are agreeing to these terms of use. If you do not accept these terms, do not submit a photo.

By submitting a photo, you agree that it may be used for University of Illinois System purposes.

Disclaimers

We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to SubmitMyPhoto. We cannot guarantee that SubmitMyPhoto will be compatible with any specific hardware, software, mobile phone, or browser. We reserve the right to suspend access to the SubmitMyPhoto web application at any time.

Approval of digital photos is based on photo requirements. Photos are reviewed only during regular, weekday business hours. Submitting a photo other than your own or that contains offensive or lewd gestures may result in disciplinary action.

Photos submitted for i‐cards

If you do not pick up your i‐card at an ID Center within six months of your photo's approval, that photo will be deleted permanently. ID Centers have the right to withhold an i‐card if the approved photo does not reflect your current appearance.
