What is the University ID number and
why do I need one?
 

Your 9-digit University ID number (UIN), which is printed on your i-card, is assigned to you when you are admitted as a student or become an employee of the University of Illinois.

Your UIN never changes and is never re-used. It is not your Social Security number. It is your permanent, unique ID number identifying you as a member of the University community. It is used:

• With a password or PIN to access Web-based services.
• To identify you in University computer systems.
• To add money to your noncontract meal account in Urbana.

If you do not know your UIN, you can get it online.
