The New i-card

The i-card has a new look! After nearly 11 years without a major design change, the University of Illinois i-card has gotten a facelift. The new design represents several months of collaboration, consultation, and planning with campus leaders and standing ID committees.

Only the i-card has changed. (Only i-cards have the official i-card logo on the card front.) Other card types, such as visitor cards, special user cards, University High cards, departmental name badges, and conference cards, are not changing designs.

You may see new i-cards as early as Monday, May 14, 2007, when the new design will be put into production at campus ID Centers. From that point on, all newly issued i-cards will bear the new design.

A phased recarding effort will begin this fall to issue new cards to all eligible students, faculty, staff, and other i-card holders. While campuses adopt the new i-card design, current i-cards will still be valid and in circulation and must be accepted as well. i-card Programs will notify campus units before any older i-card design is officially retired and deactivated, which is not expected to occur before 2009.
