Using Your ID Card
Five things ID cards don't do
Presenting or having an ID card:
- Does not charge purchases to a University student account (or employee account)
- Does not prove your current status
- Does not guarantee you services or privileges
- Does not prove you have health insurance
- Does not automatically give you electronic door access

What really determines your card services
Your ID card does not guarantee you services and privileges; these factors determine what you may do:
- Your status—such as active or inactive, student or employee, fees paid or waived
- What services you have paid or arranged for
- The card services available on your campus
- The type of card you have
Protect your ID
Campus units check, scan, and swipe IDs to help people get the services for which they are eligible.
- Do not use someone else's ID.
- Do not loan your ID to anyone.
- Report your lost or stolen ID card immediately.
- Keep only one ID card at any time—even if you find one you had lost.
ID cards are University property. Campus units may confiscate any ID card they believe is being misused or is no longer valid.
