About i-cards

An i-card is the most-used University ID

The i-card is the official University of Illinois identification card, used by most students, faculty, and staff. It is one of many ID cards used at the University.

i-cards look different, depending on when they were issued

The i-card design was updated in May 2007, so now i-cards with two different designs are in circulation. The following table shows a selection of what a "new" i-card and older i-card look like for each campus.

Chicago's new and "old" i-cards are both valid

A new Chicago i-card An old Chicago i-card
A 'new' redesigned Chicago campus i-card is easily identified by its overall color and a few key features. There's a wide red border on the left with the i-card logo, the UIC logo across the top, and the scenic photo of the UIC Paviiltion against the Chicago Skyline. Older Chicago campus i-cards are on a plain white background, but they're still valid if not expired. You can easily identify them by the i-card logo at the top, and several touches of red on the card: the red photo border, the red boxes and 'UIC' beneath the photo, and the red card label just above the bar code.

Springfield's new and "old" i-cards are both valid
